Some important coverage quality tenets must be adhered to by all Videographers who produce events with LiveControl clients:
- Movement
- Composition
- Adaptability
To keep shots engaging and varied, avoid transitioning directly from one close-up to another or from one wide shot to another. Instead, consider cutting from a wide shot to a close-up, or from a close-up to a mid shot, and so on.
By following these tenets, you’ll secure your spot as a LiveControl Videographer and continue to receive more and more events over time as we grow the business! If Quality Policy Guidelines are not followed, you may no longer be assigned to LiveControl events.
1. Movement
- Fluidity of Movements: How smooth and controlled are the pan, tilt, and zoom movements using the Quick Shot features?
- Focus Accuracy: How consistently is the subject in sharp focus?
- Timing and Relevance: Are movements well-timed and appropriate for the unfolding events?
Refrain from using manual controls to perform live movements. Instead use the Quick Shot Buttons i.e Pans/Zooms/Ken Burns, to enhance the viewing experience and add value to the production.
2. Composition
- Headroom: Is there adequate space above the subjects’ heads without too much empty space?
- Lead Room: Is there sufficient space in the direction the subject is facing or moving towards?
- Variety of Angles: Is there a diverse range of camera angles used to cover the event?
- Appropriateness of Angles: Are the chosen angles suitable and respectful for the event’s context?
- Consistency in Framing: Is the framing consistent and aesthetically pleasing across different shots?
Empty frames are the quickest and easiest way to no longer be assigned LiveControl events!
3. Adaptability
- Responsiveness: How quickly and effectively does the operator adapt to unforeseen changes or issues?
- Proactivity: Is the operator anticipating key moments and adjusting the cameras accordingly?
- Problem-Solving: How well does the operator handle technical issues or unexpected events to maintain livestream quality?
- Cue Sheet/Notes: Did you follow the clients notes?
Some events include Videographer Notes on your homepage or Cue Sheets outlining the action flow. LiveControl videographers must follow client preferences and cues as best as possible. If notes or cues conflict or fall outside LiveControl standards, contact the LCHQ team.
